In eighth grade humanities, students will be expected to “publish” one piece of writing per month, which will be graded according the the 6+1 traits of writing rubric. Other writing will be expected and students will be given credit for evidence of progress. Students will also be required to complete one vocabulary lesson, one grammar lesson and one reading response per week.
Students will work to complete a book review from their non-required reading per trimester. Time is given in class for reading and writing but there is an expectation that students read for a minimum of 20 minutes a night and write as necessary to make progress toward their required assignments. Other homework assignments will include research and the completion of presentations or projects. Homework will be listed daily on Schoology and also written on the white board in my room. Students are expected to write down their homework before leaving class. |
